Who the employer is
EGTC, in Malabo
EGTC runs a 2,000 square metre hypermarket, a fleet of around fifty trucks and over two hundred staff in Malabo, Equatorial Guinea. It is the group behind Ecua Market.
Byblos Horizon is running this hiring because we are already working with EGTC on their ERP implementation and restructuring. You would be employed by EGTC and based in Malabo. We are not your employer and we will say so again at every stage, because a recruiter who blurs that is wasting your time.
The job
Own the structure, not a slice of it
The group has grown faster than its finance function. There is real revenue, real stock and a real fleet, and the reporting around them was built for a smaller company. An ERP implementation is under way and the finance side of it needs someone who has done this before.
What the role covers:
- The monthly close, start to finish, and the reporting that comes out of it
- Internal controls, cash handling and treasury across a cash-heavy retail operation
- Inventory and margin accounting across a hypermarket and a distribution arm
- Cost accounting for a fifty-truck fleet, which is where a distribution business usually leaks
- The finance half of the ERP implementation: chart of accounts, data migration, parallel running and sign-off
- Building and leading the finance team that runs it afterwards
Who this suits
What we are actually looking for
- Ten years or more in finance, including a stretch where the close was yours to sign rather than yours to contribute to
- Experience in retail, distribution, FMCG or logistics. Stock and fleet are the two places this business makes and loses money
- You have been through an ERP implementation on the finance side, or have rebuilt a chart of accounts and lived with the result
- Spanish for day-to-day work in Equatorial Guinea. French or English for the group's suppliers and partners
- Willing to be in Malabo. This is an on-site role and the work cannot be done from somewhere else
A qualification such as ACCA, CPA, CIMA or an equivalent is useful and is not a substitute for having run a close.
How hiring works
What happens after you apply
We read every application and reply to every applicant, including the ones we do not take forward. If your experience fits, the next step is a conversation with us about what you have actually run, then a conversation with EGTC.
Salary is set by EGTC and discussed openly at the first call rather than at the end. If relocation is involved, the terms are part of that conversation too.
